Dr. Guerra's Biography
I am a licensed doctoral-level psychologist with experience in hospital, clinic and private settings. For over thirty years, I maintained a private practice in center city Philadelphia, working with individuals and couples at a variety of ages and stages. Currently I am located in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, a suburb that borders Philadelphia, in a location that is convenient to public transportation and has plenty of free parking.
I have successfully assisted people with many of the kinds of emotional problems that we humans commonly struggle with, such as depression, anxiety, life transitions or the difficulties connected with losing a job, a spouse, a child or a close friend. I have also worked extensively helping people to take control of and overcome their addictions to alcohol, drugs, bad relationships or negative behaviors.
In addition to my graduate training in psychology and psycho-educational processes, I have completed postgraduate studies at a psychoanalytic institute, where the emphasis was on modern psychoanalytic approaches to psychotherapy. I have also completed an externship in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, an effective approach to helping couples work through their barriers to achieving greater emotional closeness and intimacy.
