Dr. Guerra's Treatment Philosophy
I am interested in people, not in diagnoses. I want to help people to become everything that they can be, to have the kind of relationships that they want, the kind of careers that they want, etc. Psychotherapy is a process that has the potential not only to relieve symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and phobias, but also to promote emotional growth and flexibility, self-confidence and self-knowledge. I enjoy helping my clients to expand and utilize their talents and potential. If a client is not sure what his or her short or long-term goals are, I can assist him or her in sorting this out, in defining goals, and in understanding how psychotherapy can be of help. Together we identify and work through whatever blocks have been impeding the client's progress. What results is a tremendously satisfying and rewarding process for both the client and myself.
Psychotherapy is not a lifelong commitment! The length of the process depends largely on what an individual's goals are, and what the "goodness of fit" is between therapist and client.
